May is Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month. With warmer weather, it’s time to remind everyone to be on the alert and to share the road with motorcyclists.
Both motorcyclists and motorists need to be aware of their surroundings. Checking blind spots, mirrors and using turn signals are necessary when changing lanes and when passing.
For more information visit www.nhtsa.gov/safety/motorcycles.
The leading cause of death for teens in the United States is traffic crashes. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, mile for mile, teenagers are involved in three times as many fatal crashes as all other drivers. Summer months are especially dangerous for teens on the road. Fortunately, most teen motor vehicle crashes are preventable, and proven strategies can improve the safety of young drivers on the road.
