The Ontario County Department of Workforce Development One-Stop Resource Room is a cooperative effort with partners in the Finger Lakes Works Workforce Development System in the four-county Finger Lakes region. We serve both job seekers and employers in programs supported by Title I of the Workforce Investment Act. The department also contracts with the Ontario County Department of Social Services to operate their employment programs.

The Resource Room is a self-directed service for people able to conduct their own job search. Staff assistance is limited, however more comprehensive services are available at the Finger Lakes Works Geneva One Stop Center located at 70 Elizabeth Blackwell St., Geneva.

Workforce Investment Act Programs

In partnership with the Finger Lakes Workforce Investment Board and other area agencies, this program provides a wide variety of activities to assist adults and dislocated workers through core, intensive and training services.

Services for Job seekers

  • Self-service listings of job orders in the four county area, within New York State, and across the nation.
  • Resource Room with computers and Internet access to assist in your job search.
  • Fax and copy service for job-related activities.
  • Job and career fairs.
  • Apprenticeship programs.
  • Labor market information.
  • Labor law information.
  • Skills assessment and retraining assistance
  • Assistance with job search activities including workshops on resume writing, interviewing techniques, job application assistance and career club are available at the Geneva One Stop Center.
  • Career planning assistance is also available at the Geneva One Stop Center or by appointment.

Services for Employers

  • Access to the largest job bank of local talent.
  • Screening of applicants to your specifications.
  • Assistance with recruitment.
  • Labor market information.
  • On-the-job training programs.
  • An account representative for almost any human resource need.
  • Employment and labor law information.
  • Exposure of job openings locally, throughout the state and nationally.
  • Seminars and workshops on pertinent workforce issues and concerns.
  • Job Fairs.
  • Training of incumbent workers.
  • Apprenticeship programs.
  • Interview facilities

Youth programs

Year round youth services to eligible youth including summer youth, tutoring and study skills, drop out prevention, paid and unpaid Work Experience, Occupational Skills Training, supportive services, adult mentoring, follow-up services, comprehensive counseling and leadership development.
