The elected County Treasurer is the chief fiscal officer of Ontario County, performing duties as may be prescribed by law and directed by the Board of Supervisors.

Among those duties are:

• Administration, collection and enforcement of real property taxes, including settlement process with town, school, and village tax collectors, refunds, correction of errors, bankruptcies, foreclosures, and auction sale.
• Administration, collection and enforcement of Occupancy Tax, including audits and providing reports to the Finger Lakes Visitors' Connection (Ontario County Four Seasons Local Development Corporation).
• Estate Administration.
• Provide Certificates of Residency pursuant to the Education Law.
• Serves in a "checks and balances" capacity to the Director of Finance.
