Q. Can the County Attorney represent me?

    A. If you are a county officer or an employee, and the matter involves county business, we have to represent you. County Law § 501. If not, the short answer is no, but thanks for asking.

We are counsel to Ontario County government, and its officers and employees for their official acts.

The exception is for people seeking child support, provided they meet guidelines through the Ontario County Department of Social Services (585-396-4160). And, we will do what we can to help you find the law, contact any public offices that may be able to help you, and of course help you find a lawyer who can assist you.
