The board meets throughout the year and is made up of active farmers, agri-business owners, agriculture preservation organizations, county and district employees, and a Board of Supervisors representative.
The board works with the agricultural community, various levels of government, and the private sector to promote agriculture and agri-businesses, and preserve and protect farmland.
The Ontario County Agricultural Enhancement Board meets at 7:00 pm at the Ontario County Municipal Building, 20 Ontario Street, Third Floor Conference Room. For more information on the meetings, contact Maria Rudzinski, Senior Planner, at (585) 396-4416.
Ontario County Agricultural Enhancement Plan Update
A draft Agricultural Enhancement Plan will be submitted to our project Advisory Committee in the coming weeks.
That plan will provide additional detail about existing conditions within the county’s agricultural sector, and will include a revised set of goals and a series of recommended implementation steps.
Public Input & Plan Revision
Following the committee’s review of the draft plan, Ontario County will host a second Open House (tentatively scheduled for June 2016) to present those recommendations and collect additional input from the public.
The draft plan will then be revised in light of public comments, and a final draft will be submitted to the Ontario County Board of Supervisors for adoption.
Review & Implementation
The adopted plan will be submitted to the New York State Department of Agriculture & Markets for their review.
Upon accepting and approving the county’s plan, Ontario County’s recommended implementation projects will be eligible for funding through the New York State Farmland Protection Implementation Grant program.
If you were not able to attend the Open House on April 20th please see the below for more information on what was presented and next steps. Also keep an eye out for the next Open House!
