Have leftover or expired medications, and don’t know how to dispose of them? Do not flush them down the toilet or throw them out! Pharmaceuticals are very hard to filter out once they are in the environment and persist for a very long time.
Ontario County hosts two free, “Unwanted Pharmaceutical Collection Days” each year. Just drive through and drop off outdated, unwanted or unusable medications from your home. To find out when the next collection day is and to learn more about pre-registering for the next event please call: 585- 394-3977 x 427.
The Partnership for Ontario County sponsors a Substance Abuse Prevention Coalition initiative and maintain a list of medication drop box locations. To view their list please visit their website: Partnership for Ontario County. In addition of their list below are two other drop-off locations.
