The 2016 Choose Health Ontario Award was presented to the Partnership for Ontario County on March 22, 2016 at the 53rd Annual Safety Awards Dinner. Board of Supervisors Chairman, Jack Marren (Victor) and Director of Public Health, Mary Beer, presented the award to Bonnie Ross, the partnership's executive director. The award recognizes the Partnership’s commitment to supporting health among youth, families and communities in Ontario County.
In 2015, the Partnership for Ontario County worked to reduce heroin, opiate and prescription drug abuse among our residents. It sponsored numerous drug drop-off events and community forums at which residents heard first hand about the effects of heroin addiction. With a grant from the New York State Office for Alcoholism and Substance Abuse, the Partnership will continue to focus on the misuse and abuse of prescription drugs and opiates, particularly in the twelve to twenty-five year old population.
Past recipients of the Choose Health Ontario Award include Canandaigua Wegmans, G.W.Lisk, Geneva School District, and the Salvation Army and Food Link.
The Ontario County Health Collaborative is comprised of representatives from Ontario County Public Health, Rochester Regional Health, Finger Lakes Health, UR Thompson Health, and other community partners. It offers its thanks and congratulations to the Partnership for Ontario County!
