    Citizens Police Academy
    The Ontario County Sheriff's Office sponsored their 8th Annual Citizen Academy from September 8th-October 27, 2016.  This years class had 25 participants (one of the largest classes).  This group met every Thursday from 6pm-9pm for eight consecutive weeks.  Topics that were offered were:  The history of the Sheriff's Office, Road Patrol, Corrections and 911 Functions, Special Teams including:  K-9, Emergency Response Team, Crime Scene Unit.  A taser, handgun and K-9 demonstrations were included.   In addition, the District Attorney, STOP-DWI, and Coroners Office made presentations.  This academy has had over 150 participants since its inception.  Next year's class is scheduled to run from September 7th-October 26th, 2017.  Please check the Ontario County Sheriff's website for announcement.
